China'S First "Cotton Science Academy" Was Founded In Xinjiang.

The school of cotton science, co founded by Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Tarim University, was unveiled in Alar City, Xinjiang autonomous region in August 24th.

This is the first professional science college in China, which integrates cotton discipline construction, personnel training and scientific research service.

The Institute will explore the resource efficient utilization mode of Cotton Sustainable Development and prosperity based on Southern Xinjiang and Central Asia, and set up a comprehensive development platform for cotton development.

Cotton is an important economic crop and textile raw material in China. The cotton industry involves the income of hundreds of millions of cotton farmers and the employment of about 20000000 textile workers, which plays a decisive role in the development of our national economy.

As the largest cotton production area in China, cotton production area, yield per unit area and total output have been ranked first in the cotton production area for 20 consecutive years. The total output of cotton in Xinjiang has surpassed 50% of the whole country. 50% of the farmers in Xinjiang are engaged in cotton production. The level of cotton industry plays a decisive role in increasing local farmers' income and adjusting their planting structure.

It is reported that the establishment of the cotton Science Institute is a major scientific and technological demand for the adjustment and pformation of the national cotton development strategy. It is also a major industrial demand for developing the "Silk Road Economic Belt" to achieve "technology output and raw cotton introduction".

Highland, discipline research center, science and technology innovation center.

Combined with the advantages of science and technology and talents of Tarim University and the geographical and resource advantages of Tarim University, the Institute of cotton science has set up five cotton science and technology innovation teams and set up three universities and disciplines, including cotton germplasm resources innovation and new varieties selection, light cotton planting technology and cotton field ecosystem protection, focusing on breeding and popularizing cotton varieties suitable for Southern Xinjiang, and establishing demonstration bases for introduction experiments, improved seed cultivation and high-yield cultivation; demonstration of new cotton varieties, new technologies, new equipment and new ideas, laying the foundation for promoting the development of cotton industry in southern Xinjiang; and cultivating a group of cotton scientific and technological talents for Southern Xinjiang and even Xinjiang and Central Asia.

To build a platform for demonstration, training and popularization of cotton technology, speed up the breeding process, strengthen demonstration and extension, and promote the rapid and sustainable development of cotton industry in the southern Xinjiang, and improve the overall production capacity of Xinjiang and even China's cotton.
