Due to bad weather, Pakistan's cotton production forecast has been cut by 10.5%, from 13 million 860 thousand packets to 12 million 400 thousand bales.

Sindh and Punjab, the two main cotton growers, have cut their production estimates earlier, because the floods have severely damaged crops.

At the same time, more than 20% of the more than 250 thousand acres of farmland were attacked by roll leaf virus.

2/3 of the export volume of cotton and textile exports has become the main pillar of Pakistan's economic development.

Pakistan's domestic cotton consumption is about 15 million bales of cotton, even the fourth largest cotton producing country in the world, but the whole country still needs to import 2 million bales of high quality cotton to meet domestic demand.

The Ministry of Agriculture said that this year's output is expected to be 12 million 400 thousand packages, which is basically equivalent to last year's output.
